Dr. James M. O'Leary is a lifelong resident of Waterford, Connecticut. He attended Jordan Elementary, Clark Lane Middle and Waterford High School. He received his B.S. degree from The Ohio State University and his DMD degree, Summa Cum Laude from the Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston. While at Tufts, he also completed a comprehensive 2-year specialty training program in orthodontics. In July 2007, Dr. O'Leary became board certified by the American Board of Orthodontics. He has been a member of Orthodontic Associates since 1987.

Dr. O'Leary is committed to providing his patients with the highest quality, modern orthodontic care. Therefore, he regularly attends continuing education seminars throughout the country to ensure that his patients receive the latest technology and treatment procedures. Dr. O'Leary has served as President of the Tuft's University Orthodontic Alumni Association, and he still maintains a close connection with the school's orthodontic department. He is an active member in the American Association of Orthodontics, and he is also past President of the New London County Dental Society. He is founder and president of the New England Damon Study Club. Dr. O'Leary has been a member of the Ormco Insiders, an elite orthodontic research and development team for over 15 years.

Dr. O'Leary is thankful to be practicing orthodontics in the community where he was raised. He truly loves his profession and being able to provide beautiful, healthy smiles for his patients. He places a great value in being able to give back to the community and to his profession. As a result, he supports local education fundraisers, charitable programs and the Waterford Public Library. He is a lifelong member of St. Paul's Church in Waterford. In addition, he is a regent in the American Association of Orthodontics Foundation. The main focus of this group is to provide support to orthodontic postgraduate education programs and to orthodontic research.

Dr. O'Leary resides in Waterford with his wife, Karen, and his son, James Patrick. During his leisure time, he enjoys being outdoors and golfing, skiing, kayaking, bike riding, landscaping and driving sports cars.
